About the Charity.

MESSAGE FROM OUR PATRON - Earl Spencer

“Playtime tackles difficult but crucial issues, for the benefit of vulnerable children across Northamptonshire.

As a father of six children, and a stepfather of two others, I know the importance of play in a child’s development. I understand that it can also bring real benefits to young lives that have been traumatised, and am keen to support Playtime in its work in this field.

That is why I am delighted to become Patron of Playtime, and look forward to helping it in its aims.”

Playtime (the operating name of Play Therapy Services Northamptonshire) is a new charity, having developed throughout the 1990's working with drug, alcohol and other support agencies, and through referral from Social Services. This paved the way forward in the development of an effective local service for children through the use of Play Therapy.

Playtime gained charitable status in 2001 - Charity Registration No. 1084418 - and has since been consolidating its operation prior to embarking on a programme of carefully controlled expansion.

Playtime is a member of the governing body Play Therapy U.K. and abides by their codes and ethical guidelines. We also work closely with other service providers to ensure appropriate support is given to vulnerable children and their families. Playtime is also a member of Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce and the National Council of Voluntary Organisations. These close associations ensure Playtime can continually improve our results and the quality of our service.
